How Are Paintballs Made?

Paintball is a kind of sport in which competing players eliminate their opponents by targeting and hitting them using capsules containing paint called ‘paintball' fired from a gun which is specially designed for this sport, it is called ‘paintball marker'. This game can be played outdoor as well as indoor and the field sizes can vary. The field for the game is designed with artificial terrains and the player can use is for playing strategically. This sporting game has been an attraction of over 10 million people in the USA alone. Paintball is based on statistics and has been known as a safe game to play, it is also said to be safer than tennis.

Paintball contains polyethylene glycol, dye formulas and other non-toxic water-soluble substances. When the paintball strikes the opponent, it makes a mark showing that he is out of the game leaving the others to continue the game. The team who eliminates opponents of the other team is the winner.

How to Make a Paintball?
The paintball should contain a paint which is biodegradable, water-soluble and can easily be rinsed out of clothing or human skin by plain water. The player who is hit by a paintball is marked with a stain of a splat that can be easily washed with soap and water which will make him ready for the next game.

Paintballs are also called softgels which are made on softgel encapsulating machines. These machines are very expensive but can efficiently make paintballs a considerable low rate. It will be really very interesting to know how an encapsulation machine works for making paintballs. Here is a step by step procedure;

Step 1:
First, the gelatin is melted and then the hot gelatin is molded to form two thin gelatin ribbons which are each made to pass over a rotating die casting.

Step 2:
Usually, the body of the die casts is made of aluminum alloy forming paintball capsules of standard size and shape. The shape of the softgels is spherical or it can also be shaped unusually. The die casts press against each other

Softgels can be spherical in shape or can also be unusually shaped. The die casts press against each other as they rotate making softgels.

Step 3:
Paint is filled in the opposite sides of the die and when they meet, the paint gets injected into the area between the sheets.

Step 4:
The die stays in a rotated position with both of the sides pressing against one another forming a filled pellet. The seam on the capsules determines where the two sheets meet.

Step 5:
Then, the gelatin will be sealed and taken removed from the rotating die. The paintball is dropped from the paintball and comes in a rubbery form and it is sufficiently large to be used for the game.

Step 6:
The capsules look like bouncy and they have to be arranged in trays for allowing them to dry which also shrinks the gelatin while drying.

The technicians operating the manufacturing of paintballs frequently monitor the encapsulation machines and the quality of the paintballs is also checked to see if they will pass the required standard and specifications of every production. When the paintballs are ready, a final check is done and then the paintballs are ready for use.

RADARchron® USES PROVEN TECHNOLOGY Direct adaptation of our patented Glove Radar® which is field proven by over 9000 users. Employs microwave Doppler technology implemented via very clever circuits and design techniques which achieve accurate performance in a small size at a low cost. Microwave operation of the RADARchron® eliminates problems due to light shadows loud noise and associated environmental effects that are deleterious to many other paintball velocity sensors. CONVENIENCE Rugged compact design makes it easy to carry and use to check any Marker in the field. (2 ½ w; 3 ½ lg; 1 3/16 th; 2.7 oz.) BE SURE THAT YOUR MARKER IS OPERATING WITHIN SAFE LIMITS!! EASY TO USE Referees use it in the field during competition. Just hold the small RADARchron® within 1/2 inch of the Marker barrel about 2 inches behind the marker barrel exit and read the velocity of the expelled paintball. Simple one-button operation turns on the radar transmitter and feet per second paintball exit velocity is indicated on the LCD. Individual players monitor their marker performance by loosely attaching the RADARchron® to the barrel with a hook & loop strap. ACCURACY Microwave Doppler accuracy is within ± 2% AFFORDABLE

The Paintball Gun - A Beginner's Guide to Recreational and Speedball Guns

The choices can be overwhelming for a paintball beginner.. So, to simplify, there are two main game types: recreational and speedball. You need to know about these to decide the sort of player you want to be and, therefore, what paintball gun features you will need.

Recreational

Recreational markers are used to play paintball games over a large area, often woods or fields. Scenario paintball is played in an area made to replicate a chosen landscape. Woodsball, as the name suggests, is played in a wooded area. Tactical paintball is a strategic game with a variety of rules.

Sniper paintball guns are for recreational players to shoot accurately over long distances. They often have long barrels that can cause the paintball to spin, thus increasing its distance.

Speedball

Speedball paintball guns are used in more confined areas, often utilising bunkers and obstacles. These games are of shorter duration as the players are within close proximity of each other. Camouflage, therefore, isn't a consideration, so the markers are more visual and come in a wide variety of colours and designs.

X Ball is a type of speedball game for which any standard speedball paintball gun will suffice.

Recreational and speedball markers have the same internal mechanism; the differences are external only. Recreational guns are generally camouflaged or darker in colours. They often resemble real guns; some have been designed to replicate guns from historic battles. Speedball guns are lighter, smaller and more colourful.

You need a paintball gun that fits the sort of player you are e.g. front, cover or sniper. A front player needs a light, easy to handle gun. A cover player needs a big hopper and air supply. A sniper may need a longer barrel with a scope.

Markers can range in price from $50 to over $1000 depending on quality and features. You don't need to spend too much money on your first paintball gun. You can upgrade it as and when you need to without difficulty. Try renting or borrowing a range of markers before you make a purchase to find one that is suitable for you and feels right. You should expect to pay around $200 for a gun that will give sufficient performance for a beginner's needs.
